Green On Red – Here Come The Snakes

medium_greenonredsnakes.jpgGod, I love this album! It’s like a girlish thing. It’s the slow songs that I love the most. Just like you discover “When a man loves a woman” or “It’s a man man man’s world”. And, just like the other times, it’s about being brokenhearted and miserably dumped. And that’s exactly the state I was in when I discovered that album. And now – thanks to the beautiful reissue and the liner notes, I know that it was recorder by not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 dumped poor motherfuckers! The ENTIRE band got dumped after coming back from a tour!

Is it the reason why it’s so good? Anyway, it’s really sad and strong at the same time. It’s not a very clean album, it’s not a very cool album, nor it is hard nor soft but it’s a very touching rock’n’roll album.

Because it is a rock’n’roll album. I don’t want to give you the wrong impression by talking about slow songs that there are no guitars or attitude. This album is full of attitude. But, man, listen to the last three songs, in a row, and you’ll know – one more time – the significance of despair and brokenhearted!

(In the reissue, I don’t know why but they sacrilegiously inverted the last two songs, mistake that I, of course, corrected! And there is also an entire disc of bonus tracks – which I didn’t listen to until yesterday, when I decided to post that CD and it’s pretty good, so you can go ahead and download that one as well.)
