P.P. Arnold – The First Cut Is the Deepest
A little treasure, just like that, passing by.
PP Arnold has a fun story: she was a backup singer for Ike & Tina Turner. And they got to London and Mick Jagger “introduced” her to Andrew Hoog Oldham. And she became the first lady of the short-live but legendary label Immediate. And she recorded one of the greatest singles of the 60’s : “The First Cut is the Deepest”, a song written by a surprisingly talented Cat Stevens.
The rest of the collection is not as good but there are some really good moments… as well as some big misses. But you’ll sort it out, won’t you?

PP Arnold est depuis pas mal d'années choriste sur les tournées de Pink Floyd (bon, ça lui laisse pas mal de temps libre, hein...)

Thanks for sharing this excellent album of an underrated artist. After listening to it , I agree with you there are highs and lows, but the highs outnumber the not so low lows.
And the title track is a jewel.
